Nintendo Slashes 3DS Price to $169.99, Early Adopters Get Free Games

http://www.giantbomb.com/news/nintendo- … ames/3530/

Man, the 3DS must be failing pretty hard to get such a drastic price drop so soon after launch.

Now I might actually consider buying one; that's about as much as I paid for my DSi. But I'd still like to see more games I care about on the 3DS first.

It only hurts your eyes if you look at the 3D excessively. I'll probably NEVER use the 3D because it's nothing more then a gimmick.

Still I'll probably get the 3DS sooner than i thought. But I'll be waiting till theirs a better selection of games. Right now there's only 2 i want now for that console.(The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D and Shin Megami Tensai Devil Surivior Overcloaked)

Re: Nintendo Slashes 3DS Price to $169.99, Early Adopters Get Free Games

Does anyone know of a store that has a price match guarantee for a certain amount of days?

Like they pay you the difference if you buy a few days before the price drops? I know some stores do this, but I'm trying to figure out which ones...

EDIT: Got it!

Best Buy allows any price changes by other companies to be partially refunded within 30 days. Therefore, I can buy the 3DS on August 10th, then on the 12th I can go to their Customer Service desk and ask for the difference. Bam! I will get the 20 free games, AND the price decrease!

Silly Nintendo... Announcing their price drops so early...

Me too.  Probably the most frustrating thing for me is seeing the 3DS footage for Skylanders, how awesome it is, knowing you get a special spyro character with it, and how different the gameplay is compared to the other versions.

This price cut makes deciding which version to get a little more interesting.

This is simply pure paranoia and a lack of knowing how the 3D works. Your eyes won't get damaged. Maybe you'll get dizzy a bit if you stare at 3D from a bad angle too long, but your eyes will not be damaged, rest assured.

If your eyes are having trouble getting used to the 3D, most often it's that you're viewing the screen at a side angle. Viewing it at the center will give you really really great results.

@Latias fan: you're going to miss out on a LOT if you never turn on the 3D. Not that you'd do it all the time, but I tend to use the 3D at least half of the time regularly. It's far more than a gimmick, unlike previous features on past Nintendo consoles such as the DSi. I'd turn off the skepticism and turn on the 3D!

Re: Nintendo Slashes 3DS Price to $169.99, Early Adopters Get Free Games

I saw this announcement yesterday. I was kind of on the fence before, thinking of waiting for the price to drop, and then it drops by 32%...I will most definitely be getting one of these before I leave for school.

Games I know I will want:
-Ocarina of Time
-Mario Kart
-Super Mario
-Luigi's Mansion 2
-That one Smash Bros game coming for 3DS and Wii U

Those 5 alone are enough to merit buying a $170 system for me, and I'm sure there will be more to come.

Also, I hope they can make a good Kirby game for the 3DS; in the classic stylelike The Amazing Mirror.

Soon the DS will become dated and all the new games will go on the 3DS you know.

And no Shin Megami Tensai Devil Survivor on your list Paranoia? For shame.

Well seeing as I've never heard of the game...

Eh, I checked it out-doesn't really seem like something I'd be interested in. I guess I'm just a fan of the more mainstream Nintendo games.

Also, I hope that this price drop will make Playstation do the same with the Vita once it comes out...because I know they have an Uncharted game planned, and if they come out with Ratchet and Clank I might just have to get my hands on one of those too. *secretly hopes for a classic Spyro game or remake*

Well anyway. Is there any RPGs that's coming out on the 3DS other than SMT Devil Survivor Overcloaked and Ocarina of Time 3D?

Not trying to start anything, but would Ocarina of Time really be considered an RPG? It doesn't really have experience or a leveling system at all.

I'm sure they'll have another Pokemon game! *shot*

If you count gaining hearts by opening 4 containers of hearts and eating them. But it's more like an Action/Adventure/Puzzle game really.

Well the original Zelda game is coming on the eShop (pretty RPG-esque). I'm also guessing a few other RPG games will appear on there (very likely the original Pokemon games).

I'm not really familiar with all the high-end new 3DS games that are coming out, but I believe Chrono Trigger was released on the original recently.

Just got a 3DS and OOT.

The clerk at Best Buy said I will be able to get the money back once the price drops. So I guess I get free games and the price drop while I'm at it  :*bleep*in:

Also, I saw Golden Sun as a DS game. You should DEFINITELY look into that. It was one of my all-time favorites!

I've got a 3DS before the announcement of the price drop. If you did as well, there's a nice compensation that Nintendo recently announced: http://nintendo3dsblog.com/early-adopte … ir-support

You know, this 3DS is genuinely impressive. And that's from a critical standpoint.

I feel battery life could be better, but it improves a lot when not in 3d.

Would you consider the 3D technology on the 3DS a novelty, or something that really seperates it from the 'others'
