Minecraft
Since Minecraft is quickly becoming a popular game, I figured it'd be
definately worth creating a topic about it.
[Edit] Jazz Jackrabbit is hosting a working server. I'd like to get some
SpyroForum members to hop on and play the game together with us.
IP: 24.192.150.69
I am SwaffyWaffle on the game.

Re: Minecraft

It's a sandbox game where you build things with blocks.
If you ever heard of Roblox, it is just like that except with a TF2-esque crafting system and the entire world is made out of blocks.
If you never heard of Roblox, think of Gmod except with less control and everything is made out of pixelated blocks.
If you never heard of Gmod, think of a game where you run around breaking blocks and restacking them elsewhere. You can also use blocks to create items and weapons by crafting them. It is an online multiplayer game too.
Off-topic: Hey Swaffeh, you think you could mod the portal gun into 1942? I can't seem to find a mod for that, and I knew you were good at doing those kinds of mods.

Re: Minecraft
I play it and it's very fun. It's especially fun if you have a good imagination. For a game like minecraft you make your own adventure. I don't host any servers but my bf does, it's even more fun when playing with others

You craft hundreds of different things such as this, ...
... and you create awesome stuff such as this:

You'd have to modify the game engine. As in: do some reprogramming.

Re: Minecraft
You know what I do with cod? I eat it. With chips and vinegar. And then I go play MAG on hard mode.
Yes, I'm bitter.
I wanted to download minecraft, but my computer is shoddy and cheap, so that didn't go as planned. However, I've researched it a little, and I've heard friends talk about it, and the big problem they seem to have is the lack of challenge. The need to mine comes from the danger of monsters, but once this has been averted with a tower, and fortress, or the old self-burial trick, there's not much left to drive a person forward other than sheer creative force. I'd like to see the potential for cities, and maybe the protection of other people. Maybe your character could become ruler of a domain. I've always wanted a game where I can do something like that.
It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Re: Minecraft
Well, everyone has different tastes I'd say. Shogun Total War 2 is also a personal favorite at this point.

Re: Minecraft
Heck yeah. Uh ... I say create it without enemy mobs, then when we have
houses and some defensive crap, then we turn them on and try to survive.
All you have to do is shut down the server for a minute to change the
settings in order to turn on mobs.

I personally hate Minecraft.
Don't judge it off of videos. Just play it [if you haven't already] and see for
yourself. At least it's not pink ponies that poop rainbows [not to make fun ... of ... anything].

I have played it. I've played it for 2 weekends with my friend before I decided it was too boring. It doesn't have many features for the pricetag, and if I want to play a sandbox game, I would just start up LBP or Gmod.

I still have yet to legitimately build one. I hacked one into my illegitimate
game [I have two games: one legit and one for fun] and got to try it out.

Re: Minecraft
I have three versions of Minecraft in the App support library. One is 1.5 unmodded (to preserve the Minecart booster exploits.), 1.5 heavily modded (Portal, Pokemon, TooManyItems, etc.), and the one I keep up to date.

Re: Minecraft
I will have to get more RAM if a lot of people play. My processor could definitely handle a server.
