Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Lol, sounds like the Spyro fandom a few years ago. I've never played a Sonic game, but it sounds like there are quite a few parallels between the Sonic fandom and this one.

Well, it's a bit creepy, but it certainly isn't porn, so I wouldn't count it.

But really, in response to the question, people make fetish-art of everything, so there are going to be similarities between MLP, furries, and, well, everything. But there's still a difference between the two. And in both the fandoms, there is some clean art.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Its all about who you hang out with people.  It's why I participate on a role play site that heavily monitors character applications to remove marry sues and inexperienced writers from ever being apart of a forum's board canon.  When you decide to make characters based on passions without the necessary guidelines or rules, that's when stuff happens that makes people go, "wut?"

and as far as the porn percentage is concerned, I feel that debating amount of porn content is missing the point of what 'rule 34' really means.  Its gonna be there whether you want it or not, regardless of the fandom or maturity level.

As a brony, I choose to pick and choose what i like to enjoy.  I don't let offensive stuff drive me away.  I choose to not throw the baby out with the bath water.  That's been my motto in the Spyro fandom, and its now my practice in the brony community.

I'm not really a furry, but i can somewhat understand the fascination with it.  I've had some interesting conversations with bronies that are ex-furries for non-lethal reasons.  They chose to leave because of things they didn't like in the fandom.  Amount of porn, and lack of creativity and quality was not one of their reasons.

That's another thing I don't get. Role-playing. I understand It when It's D&D or some other table top board game. But on the Internet where the role-playing takes place In a show/Video game/movie. Seems like bad fanfiction to me. Reason It worked In D&D was because the board game gives you an original fantasy world to delve Into. I never played D&D so I wouldn't know how exactly It works. But I know that's original In what It tryed to do.

I don't do online roleplay (do occasionally play a modified version of D&D, though) but I don't think it's that much different. There may not be stats like a video game RPG, but you're creating a fantasy world in both cases. And some people really like writing, so for them, it's fun and good practice.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

in a way, forum role play is group fan fiction.  But its fun because we're writing stories with other characters that other's control, instead of deciding everything for every character that usually causes a fanfic to go sour.  A good fanfic, if there is such a thing, requires very objectionable personalities and the ability to write from several perspectives.

I tried Spyro role play here and other places, and it sucks because there really isnt any quality control, and there's not really enough interest to get people involved that really wanna do role play the 'right' way.  I know this sounds conceded, but if you saw what a good role play looks like you would know what I'm talking about.  Its not for everyone, but if you like reading and writing, I would suggest it.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

That's what we tried to do in the roleplaying section here (fun fact, it used to be called Spyro Games before members turned it into just roleplaying) but our quality control ended up just making people leave. It was a shame, because we had some good RPers who were genuinely interested in having good RPs but kept getting interrupted by other people who wanted to do scripting and chatspeak. They didn't even stick around long after we implemented the new mod and rules.

We didn't even stop people from continuing to do what they were doing. All we did was rank each member and RP and not let members join RPs in ranks above their own.  RPs that weren't Spyro-related at all were moved to SPAM, not locked or deleted. We didn't stop them from using terrible grammar and god-modding and whatever else. Then all the "bad" RPers complained that we were *bleep*s and that we ruined "their" RP section. I don't get it.

(I know this has very little to do with ponies. Sorry about that. Just felt like ranting.)

Now to get back on topic, how many episodes are left in the season, anyway?

I assumed it was just ninja movies in general. But I don't often catch pop culture references, even old ones.

Yeah pretty sure it was supposed to be ninja movies in general. The only one that was a specific movie was the James Bond one, I believe. Oh, and Pinkie being Sherlock Holmes of course

I watch too many movies/T.V shows. I'm pretty good at pointing these things out. Like The Big Lebowski reference they did in an earlier episode.

It might have been Catwoman.  Of course, I've never seen it, but I think she does have a katana.
The end of the griffon's scene can either be taken as disturbingly violent, or disturbingly perverted.  After being a citizen of Internetland so long, I know what to expect.
