Re: General Discussion 5
Meh, I'm more a fan of making video games and whatnot, something that's actually fun.

Re: General Discussion 5
Programming games is more fun, but programming monitoring equipment is quicker and easier.

Re: General Discussion 5
I guess if you can't manually move the equipment and program it to repeat that movement, it would get annoying. Maybe it's because I use Arduino that it seems easy. Programming a modern game from scratch still seems to be pretty dang difficult and time consuming.

Re: General Discussion 5
I want to be a writer of a game. I actually have an awesome idea for a platformer/shooter/action-adventure/MMO with a bunch of characters few would expect or remember. If my idea is ever made, you might see Rainbow Dash fight Bucky O'Hare, and Spike battle with Sparkster.

Re: General Discussion 5
Me and a few friends spent a lot of last semester thinking of game ideas.
We would be the most awesome game company of five people ever if we actually started working on something.

Re: General Discussion 5
Not many, I imagine. It's a ridiculously competitive job market, and it's only getting worse, as the gamer demographic swells. On the plus side, that means only the best applicants get a chance to go near the games, which will improve the quality, presumably.
Before you ask, I'm aiming to be a writer.

It seems like every game developer has job openings though, I would have thought that they would be taken in an instant.

Re: General Discussion 5
Competition is what makes business better. If Microsoft was the only computer company, there would be no motivation to make better software, and the prices would be incredibly high. Because Apple exists there is motivation to be better. The two companies are rivals, but they are unknowingly working together to improve computer technology.

AI programming does sound interesting, but what practical use does it have as a career? What kind of AI are you talking about?
