What was better 'Year of the Dragon' or 'Dawn of the Dragon'?

Just wondering whether people prefer the newer games or the older games. Personally i think Year of the Dragon was better.

Well classic games are usually better. That is when the ideas are fresh from the devvies minds and not later beaten to death by players complaining about this and that.

The PSX games generally have a sense of adventure that the new ones miss. I mean, sure you go places in the new games... but they seem too... mapped. Everything is just spoon fed to you. I like how in the PSX games you have to actually SEARCH for the stuff. (Well I am basing my new game experience with the first of LoS but) You run out of things to do too quickly. If you get bored in the Spyro games you could even find unique bugs. Or you could even have a trip around the Youtube world and find other fun things. You can get SKILL POINTS in S2 and S3. This is not the stuff you get in the LoS.

RIP Insomniac Spyro. :'(

I agree Nydie. I also find that the new games feel disconnected because now all you do is button mash and then spyro does some amazing glowing ball of fire or something like that. But in the old games you could only charge and use a little fire or a few items so you needed to be good at the game to play it and win.

Enough reasons to say that YotD is much better than DotD.

Sparx didn't talk
No graphical changes that made chars uglier
FLIGHTS/SPEEDWAYS. they weren't in DotD
No different elements as a standard function. I prefer fire alone or something else with the use of portals.
Gem/egg collecting
Home Worlds
Diving
Normal characters in each world
Worlds just look much better there.
No fighting with claws. Just fire is the best.
Cynder (I'm sorry to say so) spoils a lot for me.
...and more and more....

True, i think that the game has become a bit too dark and complicated and is starting to become more dramatic and more like a movie than a game.

That nails a big nail in the coffin. It makes Spyro less of SPYRO and more of a street fighter game. If I wanted to play a beat em up game I would play Tekken.

Is anyone else having the same problem as me because i missed buying one or two games and now there are about 4 new characters and all the new moves are so different that it doesn't feel as fun plus the fact that it's getting more into a dragon ball z game with all the balls of energy and stuff.

It's just that the old games never really had a point to them. It was always some randome boss after another. I thought it was pretty creative how they made an entire legend out of just the fact that spyro is purple... Although I wish spyro was a little less serious in these new games. no matter what my vote will be for Dawn of the Dragon <3 I love it. more people like the old games but I dont care it dosen't change how I feel for the new games

I respect your opinion, mate, but I disagree with what you said. It wasn't creative at all. They just decided to go cliche and slap Spyro on it for attention.

Yeah, i really didnt find it ones boss after another either. especially as in spyro 2 theres only 3 bosses and 6 in spyro 3 (counting sleepyhead and 2nd sorcerous)

Well what I mean by "one randome boss after another" was: first Gnasty Gnorc was ticked and tried to take over....and then Ripto felt like takeing over in Avalar and spyro had to go clean up that mess...And Then The Sorceress felt like haveing dragon egg soup and spyro had to go around and fix THAT disaster... THEN, ripto pops up out of no where and feels like revenge and Spyro has to show him who's Boss....AND THEN, as far as I know, Red is the one who goes haywire and tries, like all the randome others.... to TAKE OVER THE WORLD! ...hmm do i see a pattern here?

Year of the Dragon was 100% better. Even with the tuned graphics Dawn of the Dragon stands no chance.

Alright, calm down. At least the bosses in the original series weren't lazy (well, the original trilogy wasn't. AHT and all the games which just re-used Ripto was).

In TLoS we have an 'Ice King' boss...and they're so lazy that they re-use him in Concurrent Skies and just simply re-name him the 'Electric King'. Oooh, creative. The Stone Sentinel would have been so much better if you could have fought him when flying (like when you fought Ripto) and fighting a train? Uh... hmm

Cynder on the GC/PS2 was far too easy. She was alright on the DS though, especially in her castle, because you could fly all through the castle there (even if the flying was sort-of controlled).

And the plot is lazy. I don't think I even need to go into that.

Again, I appreciate what you're saying but if it didn't sound like I was shoving my opinion down everyone's throats I'd state how crap and uncreative TLoS is.
