If someone recalled this piece before, I apologize.

Wow... second time I found something good out of nowhere from YouTube. Please note that the first one was the TLOS movie soundtrack credits. I was watching a bit of Spyro right now. Spyro: Year of the Dragon, that skateboarding gameplay. Nice. And then I drifted off and clicked a random video. Then off goes my heart. The commercial starts, and there's poor Spyro sitting in bed! Wrapped in bandages. yikes And for the fans of Crash, and Sonic, they're in beds as well!! Apparently, all three of them have a boomerang stuck into their bodies. And who's the creature that did that? It's none other than Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. *twitch*

The commercial was aired before the release of their first game in September 10, 2002, competing against the three platforming-driven yet edgy mascots. Their games would've released during Christmas season I suppose. I was kinda stunned when the series (not exactly, I already found out like half a year ago; but the commercial tells me a different story!) was made by... Krome Studios. How about that... the ones who later created the LOS series.

I remember that game. Fun gameplay, clever advertisement scheme. Doesn't strictly say who they are so no lawsuits, and gets people interested into who could take down their favourite heroes.

yeah... that's actually a great commercial for the time.... lol... Now I'm afraid we'd see a new shooter commercial with the funerals for a halo character, a Call of Duty Character, and a Gears of war character instead.... lol... but still... noe the less I'll stop talking like an old man and start counting up the people who recognized Spyro and those who didn't

Unfourtunatly.... I think the finnal count was at like 90%

and that's to a relevent and related audience.... oh well.... I'm going to quit caring so much and start wearing black all of the time.... nah... never mind...

I find it ironic that the character who was supposed to be able to beat the three most popular characters of the time was apparently an epic fail.
guess people don't like seeing their favorite characters in hospitals. big_smile

i only heard of this game kuz of someone else on here who likes it lol. maybe they should have waited a bit before making a commercial basically mocking popular video game characters, saying theirs was that much better.

I mentioned it first but I don't care that you brought it up. I never played the game but I remember seeing that ad for it and seeing the comments here I'm glad I never bought it, and Krome made it?! o_O Ironic indeed!

Ty was a great game! The storyline was a tad stupid, but gameplay was fun and challenging, it had several little secrets in it that weren't constant "MUST... FIND... LAST... DRAGON EGG...", and a wide variety of little weapons. It was my cousin's game so I never completed it and I'm an FPS man myself anyway, but I still remember it being a great game.

And you're telling me that Spyro is innocent of something that makes no sense, EVEN in the context of the game? Try an evil rabbit that *bleep*s rainbows and has no sense of direction while flying. Then a tiger falling in love with her sooner than Bella fell for Edward. YotD was played over the course of like a week, wasn't it? Or was it a day, that being the significance of the day-time themed zones?

hm. I just had a thought. if Krome studios made the LoS series, and they made Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, wouldn't there be a possibility of them putting Ty in a future spyro game? he might be good in a role like Sheila or Sgt. Bird, as long as he got a makeover to make him not be such an epic fail.

Y'know, except that one boss you have to get someone else to beat XD

That add could be a fun little allusion in a future spyro game. Spyro gets beated up by some tiger, goes to some dragon... hospital, crash is in there (because crash and spyro are closely related) and sonic, because spyro was originally created to be Mario's rival in the way sonic is, but sonic got there first. A month or two quicker creation, and the Spyro franchise would be where sonic is now.

Haha, totally agreed! Stupid tiger, never met him, he sees CB and Spyro in a hospital... Too much reasons to hate him. Kill Sonic, okay, but not CB or Spyro!
