Signature using MS Paint
I was asked by Spyrorocks to make a guide to explain how to make a siggy using good 'ol MS Paint. So, I'll get started on this. It's not to hard to explain, just putting the instructions to good use, heh.
First, find an image you like. I'm gonna use an image from this window to start. For that, press 'PrtSc' or 'Print Screen' [varies on how your keyboard is labeled] with your image on the screen first. [If you already have an image you like, simply open it in said program, skip to the next step.]
Next, open Paint. It's found [Under ALL windows, donno 'bout Vista] in Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint.
Now, in that window, go to Edit>Paste.
There! We now have an image to work with. I might suggest that you save it now, just in case you goof.
Next, we'll cut away what we want, and keep that, tossing the rest. To do that, click the rectangle on the upper right, as seen here, click at one corner of the image, then drag to the other far corner, as you can see in the next image:
Ah, so, we got the image we want, and the part of the image we want. Now, Edit>Cut. File>New and tell it 'No' When it asks 'Do you want to save changes to [your file name here]?' Now, paste it.
[Ignore the file name there]
Now, we got our main image set up... but... it looks so... bland, and kinda small. So, let's play with it, and use the different effects to make it yours, not the form's. [Individual results may vary]
[Not made to my liking, just an example]
Save it, and if your version of paint supports it, I'd go with 'PNG' format. It's small, and it makes the image look decent. Sweet! Now you have you very own image that you can use to say 'I was here! This is mine! Behold it's... siggy-ness?' Next, upload it to a server of your choice.
I'd use a popular one, photobucket.com
Seeing as I can't possbly tell you how to use every image server on the planet, I'll just urge you to follow their steps as indicated, and you'll soon end up with a image URL, something like, 'http://www.fileserversite.com/yourimage.png'.
NOTE: Be sure your host allows 'Hot Linking' to their site, otherwise, you'll get a broken image... image where your image would of went!
When you get that info, go to your 'Profile' page here on the site, and scroll down to 'Signature'.
You need to first verfy that BBcode is on, otherwise, where you want your image to appear, you'll have a lotta text. Not worth showing off.
The syntax is this:
[img]http://yourhost.com/yourimage.png[/img]
PLEASE NOTE! If your host gives you a URL like this:
http://YourHost.Com/YouImage.PNG
YOU MUST ENTER IT THE SAME! Don't edit it so it's grammatically correct. It won't matter to the server when it tried to open it. Remember: It'S CaSe SeNsItIvE
Now, try it out! Go to one of your old posts, or post a SPAM post in the SPAM thread. There you go!
One last thing... there IS a size limit, and, taken right from spyrorock's post on the matter, here's a size guide to show what a good siggy would be in size.
If ya have any questions, or need help, contact myself, or one of the mods.

Re: Signature using MS Paint
I think I forgot to mention to spyrorocks that Paint uses Pixel art. I don't think its a good idea if you want to make complex picture unless you are a good pixel artist.

Re: Signature using MS Paint
That is a good point...
Still, I don't quite think I have paint, I think I have Shop instead.

It's the same on Vista.

I think spyrorocks knows that, but some people don't have access to more complicated programs like Photoshop.
This should be stickied.

Re: Signature using MS Paint
Sorry 'bout the broken yucky-ness on the post, my host is down for now, not sure wassup with him.. he's a close pal that lives in the UK, so... can't just like... call him. But, this is odd that it's down: he usually has it up 24/7/365. :s

Re: Signature using MS Paint
Do you know what a URL is? Your banner didn't show up because you didn't put the proper URL. Try to upload your picture here take the code that is under the message "IMG code for forums and Message Boards". Then just paste that into your signature.
