Re: How to Draw Spyro

RubyKrystal, your first attempt is awesome! You added a lot of little details that I never noticed and your own personal style (or developing style) is really showing through here. Excellent work!

Pip is absolutely right. You don't get good at drawing over night. I've been doing this for over twenty years and I'm still not always pleased with my work (in fact, most of the time I can't stand it at all big_smile). Just keep practicing. One of the things I did (and still do) was to draw things I had a hard time with as often as I could. I'd doodle on my class notes or on some scrap paper and practice drawing certain poses or a single part of the body (like a nose or a leg position) or expressions (drawing characters smiling is actually one of the hardest things for me, so I practice that one a lot).

Spyrofan511, you probably should have said that in the beginning. I choose the pose and expression I did for this tutorial because it was simple and easy to work with. I will keep in mind that you'd like to see other expressions, though, and I'll see about drawing a sheet of Spyro faces.

And thank you again, SpyroRocks. The confusion about my gender never ceases to entertain me. big_smile I get mistaken for a man in real life, too (which is odd because I have a couple of things that are very obviously feminine big_smile).

Re: How to Draw Spyro

Haha, its all good.

Its also kinda funny people mistake your gender even though you clearly have a icon to the right of your screenname that indicates gender.

Anyways, Spyrofan511, its all good now. Next time, just be a little more considerate about the time it takes to put together such a tutorial.

Re: How to Draw Spyro

I've had really bad arm/wrist/hand problems for a couple of years now. My hands (especially my wrists) swell up and they hurt really bad. It's not carpal tunnel (I got the test done for that), but we don't know what it is. It might be a slipped disk in my neck or it is early onset arthritis. Whatever it is, it's helping the swelling go down when I wear hand braces that put pressure on my wrists when I'm doing things like computing, gaming, or drawing.

Wow, nice tutorial. I like it. I'm a good artist myself. Do you not mind if I use this tutorial. I might need a bit of pratice of drawing Spyro again. I'm a bit rusty. :-|

Re: How to Draw Spyro

Thank you, Shyro. smile I'm working on ways to help my wrists (mostly, this involves spending less time on-line D:).

And you can use this tutorial all you want, KiaratheDragon. smile

Re: How to Draw Spyro

Hi there. I tried this tutorial out the other day and the next few days, I learned how to draw Spyro fast. And I did like you said, try experimenting and find your own style? Well I did and I really am proud of my acheivment. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. If it weren't for you, I'd never have learned how to draw Spyro and I'd be doomed. XD
Oh and BTW, your art is awesome. ^_^ I really admire your work.

Re: How to Draw Spyro

Oh, yes, now I remember this one! Work and too little sleep have conspired against me in recent weeks. big_smile

Sketches and colorless line art are wonderful things. Don't always feel like you have to put color on something to make it look good. Most of my work is black and white, after all. smile
