Just wanted to say hi to everyone. This forum was a pretty big part of my tweenhood/early teen years and I'm glad it still exists. Thanks to Spyrorocks for keeping it up and running (and I hope that he still has a copy of the "video game central" forum backed up I was on in 2005-2006 but I doubt he does .)

It's amusing the amount of time I spent here *bleep*ing about The Legend of Spyro, and the arguments I would get into about it. We're now in an era where "classic spyro" is returning for a new iteration, and I for one are not tremendously excited but it does feel like the best time for the franchise in a long long time, I would say 20 years. Generally, I think I've "grown out" of the series in the sense that my "perfect Spyro" game would be so divorced from the originals that it would be its own thing. I've always felt the arrogance that I could "make something better" if given the chance or like "my personal vision for Spyro would be better" and I don't feel any differently today. This isn't me attempting to spit on the new game or the people who will probably enjoy it, again I am feeling the most optimistic for the franchise in decades, but simply I think I have (mostly) moved on. I haven't bought a home console since the Wii (which I actually bought 10 years after it came out and never played...) and the PC games I play are usually weird simulation games. My interests have moved on to politics, film and anime.

I think I miss the accessibility and structure of forums. There isn't a feeling that time really matters when having a conversation. You can reply to someone months later and it still feels valid. You also can also pick between many many conversations already available to join in with or not. I think I tended to join into as many threads as I could and somehow lead it back to "Legend of Spyro bad" to start a *bleep* fight.

Talking about me "making something better", I'm glad to say that the game I started working on around 18 years ago is back in development (again) and I have set aside some time where I hope to finally achieve something. It will be Spyro-inspired, not a Spyro game, if it ever gets finished. To be honest I haven't played that many modern 2d platformers and so I do hope I am not retreading on similar ground, but at the very least there's nothing I'll accidentally rip-off.

If you're wondering what my life is like these days, I'm a loser NEET coming off anti depressants after 10 years. My "life achievements" have been minimal, but generally I don't let that get to me too much because I'm not sure if the world in general has too much left to go and I'm glad I haven't invested too much time into stuff that will disappear with smoke. Things haven't been terrible for me and I've learnt a lot so I'm not too unhappy with the time spent. Everyone will always have regrets, I sure have a lot, but I think just in general we are living in a difficult period in human history for everyone to stay sane, positive and make great choices all the time.

Would love to hear people's perspectives on things. I'll hang around.

hahaha ok cool cool. hiiii ddr_maniaaac. i generally only remember the original name of people i met online. it's probably because it was when i was a kid and my brain was a scrub daddy sponge. i sponged up way too much Red if anyone was doubtful if only there was space left in my head for more important things like a new language or learning how to tie ropes haha (im kidding red, ilu!)
