I enjoyed the rather serious tone that the series set, but yes I do still miss the kinda free for all that the originals were, in that just about everything had a comic element to it. The first game especially was awesome with this, that's why I continuously play it because I usually still find something that I didn't notice before that is awesome.

I thought grimdark is now the way to go for games?

Anyways, on a serious note, humour is all good and all, but when done badly, it really makes you want to facepalm so bad, words doesn't do it justice. Sparx certainly was bad enough, and I only played ANB.

I cannot imagine the game studio do it any other way, to be honest. (either because they do not want to, or they cannot do so).

Personally, I think all the stuff that we see in the Legend of Spyro series needs a bit of dark humor, and a bit of light humor as well, even though Sparx and his sarcasm fits generically into the new series.

The reason I mentioned this is when I'm reading my book, "Lord Loss" by Darren Shan. Sure, it sounds like it's all very indeed serious, but after reading a couple of chapters, the story tells itself to me. I found myself chuckling to some of the parts of the story that I enjoyed, and yet it doesn't seem overwelmingly immature. If you read the story or any other similar stories that follow this path, you'll understand what I mean. As a general rule of thumb in my opinion, we will always have a certain level of immaturity, non-fiction or not; from the ones you can laugh, and the ones that seem horrifying and nasty.

Even though I liked the random Spyro humor in the forums, it would always be generally kept away from new series that tells their humor via point of view. Some exceptions to this are that, if one of the Spyro fan writers had captured how humor works well in a "serious tone", while writing an exceptionally, good story. One good example is "Spyro: Days of Light" by shade105. I loved how that story is written out. It's too bad the writer stopped writing due to the conflicts of the new Spyro game. Besides, wouldn't "Spongebob humor" tamper the series instead of balancing the humor with light and dark?

*eye twitch*sponge...... bob..... ewww.

But i dont think this is supposed to be childish. If you think about it, what would you want to do when watching lord of the rings *sorry first thingy poped in head. Was thinking of something that includes defeting some evil lord* and Saran didnt want to rule middle earth but instead wanted to get revenge on some bulls by chucking eggs at them? Or the hobbits decided aginst takeing the ring to the mount doom and instead sold it for more pipe weed and ale to make marry in the halls and sing the portal theme song?

It just doesnt seem right. Im sure when Spyro in past games kinda did the same, but the graphics are alot more cartoony. In my opinion if you make like realistic graphics its for a sort of serius game, maybe a joke here and there. Not to childish.

also, when dealing with a story such as LOS, things kinda have to be serius or nothng really would happen other then every one dies cuse they are still stuck at messing around. It is kind of essental to add a funny character to make the story more interesting, but not every character has to be exactly comical and childish like that one.

Ignitus was never revealed to be Spyro's father, that's just fans saying 'my logic is undeniable'. Ignitus was a father figure to Spyro, but I seriously doubt that he was Spyro's biological father.
As for Saphira in Inheritance. She doesn't actually talk, she's telepathic, lol. I'd love to read about her trying to talk, to see if she could actually make her tongue and voicebox makes words, heh.

I agree that they could make the games a bit less epic and a bit more fun, but they should put more humor in the next game. One of the things i liked about the old games were the minigames. Plus the new games are pretty much bassed on a fighting platformer. they should have levels where there are not as many enemies and there are more things to do.

I think you guys are kind of missing the point, which is that the Legend of Spyro games are too serious.

I would agree; that's always been one of my biggest gripes about that trilogy. The only funny thing is Sparx, but all he does is sarcasm which admittedly gets old after a while. That was one of the reasons I liked the originals so much: they were fun and didn't take themselves too seriously.

I dont think so. I know that there are a lot of theories out there but I dont think so. I think he might be related to spyro but he isnt his dad. he didnt act very fatherly, sending spyro to go and fight cynder alone or finding cynder alone. I think he would of been revealed as spyros dad by now if he was.

WAIT A MINUTE!!! Lynx you just said that a talking dragon is childish?!! Have you ever read the inheritance cycle? one of the main characters is a talking dragon and you say that instantly makes it childish? you should think about your words before you post. In my opinion, i like the new series. but something that i would like to see in the future is spyro and cynders parents. I would be cool to see them.

You mean Hunter looking like a weasel in year of the dragon? -shot-
Well I am 11, and really don't mind the lack of immaturity. But many people do prefer the classics.
But it would be nice to have a game that sort of goes like this;

Spyro: Cynder, we have to fight malefor- now, or the world will end..
Cynder: Will the world end in a giant flood of cheese
Spyro:..
Cynder: You know, I have a present for malefor..
Spyro: a punch in the face?
Cynder: NOPE! A barbie doll!
Spyro: WAT?
Cynder; He likes to sing im a barbie girl..

-the next day-

Spyro: HAY CYNDER
Cynder HAY SPYRO
Spyro: I HAVE A PHONE!
Cynder: WATS A PHONE
Spyro: THIS! *holds up a car*
Cynder: Does it come with papiya?
Spyro: HEK YES!

That sort of stuff.
