Exactly what cheesy said. Spyro prolly would have been brushed off because it was about a colored dragon EVERY ones used to seeing, but haveing him purple is creative, its out side the box. I think that since he is purple he kind of draws a little more attention to him self. Because very very few people would acctualy think makeing an entire thing for a purple dragon. In other games the purple dragon would get maybe a line of just look smexy in the background.

Purple fits him well.
If you see such a small dragon in green or blue, with the original Insomniac graphics (Why, insomniac, why?!?), it looks kinda normal for a dragon. purple is unique and very well chosen.

I think blue would be a great color but purple fits Spyro a lot better in my opinion.

Well considering Spyro is a Fire drake in the orginials. I have to consider him to be a fire drake..

TLOS since purple dragons are more closer to Cornverity and that stuff i get the idea he might be black..

Also wasn't spyro going to be green but changed to purple since it looked too much in the background

If Spyro was any other color, Malefor would have to match it, then it would start an epic chain of re-designs of color and possibly personalities. Plus, purple is what the blindfolded monkey hit on the dartboard.

red
blue
green
black
bronze
gold
silver
gold

the fact that spyro is the only purple dragon means that anything to do with a purple dragon, you think: spyro. also, purple is a color that is rarely used for anything, so it is very distinctive. also, purple represents spirituality, nobility, enlightenment, wisdom, and reliability. most of those are a good reference to spyro, no?

famous, but not AS famous. =P

what other male, purple, dragons do you know of? it's a unique thing about him that made him more popular. if he was black, for instance, it'd be nothing special. there's a lot of black dragons out there. =P

I think regardless what color he'd be he would be famous but i think purple fits him well.

This might sound stupid, but what if the creators of Spyro made him in another color besides purple. Would he still be popular like he is today? The question just came to my mind and I thought I should share it.

P.S : If this sounds retarded, you can lock it if you like. Only if it sounds pointless.
