This really isn't appropriate for the Spyro news site. It has been confirmed that there will be future Spyro games. A debate on if they will be comparable to earlier titles is not news. I'm re-locating this unless Neal says otherwise.

Well, here's my prediction.

Up until the Legend arc, Spyro console titles had merely came once every 2 years, though there were handheld filler titles that managed to help pass the time. Now that the Legend trilogy has been sealed, it would be most likely that we'd go back to that pattern. Make things even more complicated with the movie coming this year and I'm pretty sure that there won't be a big console game this time around.

That so-called 2.8 score was for Enter the Dragonfly anyway, so we see that as an odd step for analysis anyway but either way, the producers said it themselves - they'd prefer to do it for the fans rather than any over-critical responses. And if we fans are generally happy, then there we go.

It was also mentioned over at the Sierra forums that Chris Wilson, one of the producers for the Legend trilogy, has moved on to other projects. The torch would still be carried over by the other producer, Michael Graham, so I can say that they're still content in doing some good for the series.

And the last factor is the merge with Activision. Sure, Spyro managed to survive that, but it DOES mean that Sierra have to pass their ideas through THEM to see what would sell and what would not. No one knows what they would personally feel about any future titles, but the least we can do is hope that it all goes down well.

And you're forgetting one more thing - the first three games were only famous because they were the only game of their kind on the PlayStation, which already catapulted game sales just by its existence. If an Insomniac-era Spyro title came out today then odds are it still won't sell as much because cartoony mascots aren't as in as they were 10 years ago. That said, what we want to see is a game that we can settle down and enjoy, not entirely dependent on mainstream success (which is currently shifting over to a lot of mediocre FPS's as of late). And if you enjoy it, then that's all there is to it

With the final installment in The Legend of Spyro trilogy brings up the question can Sierra bring back Spyro in the next Spyro game? The first three Spyro games had received extremely high critical appraise. However, after Insomniac stopped producing the games the scores dropped significantly. The games which had once scored 8.3/10 on Gamespot got scores as low as 2.8/10 on the same site.

Many Spyro fans will stay devoted to the series no matter which way Sierra takes the game at. The problem is the question rises up again can Sierra bring back the huge fame as it did with the first three games?

I guess we just have to wait and see where Sierra takes the game.
