It's one of the default sizes of banners. 720x90. The smaller one is 468x60.

i find your banner OK. it is a little bit big on the vertical size though, but its not bad.

Most people do use a higher resolution.

Look at the banner image thing I have in the site guide for ideal banner sizes.

DDR_Maniacs banner is ok.
