Well that was to help support the differentiation in being epic and being more cartoon like. I like the older music better but I don't mind the new installments. Could be a lot worse as always.

I miss the old music, but the new music suits the newer more serious storyline of the purple dragon's legacy. I like to listen to the old Spyro music from time to time. The older series was more "playful" and "fantastic" (as in "fantasy") than the newer series, conveyed by the upbeat tone of Copeland's midi works. The Legend series is more serious, conveyed rather nicely by the orchestral-quality effort of its music.

Kneubuhl and Mann have done a great job with the music thus far; I love battle music, and so far their choral works kick ***, especially Cynder's boss music from ANB. The main menu music from ANB is also very powerful, it really enhances the fact that the game is truly a "new beginning"; it gives a sense of discovery almost.

I wish there had been more sequences like the flight to Dantes Freezer in the series. I think it went very well with the music to give a sense of "grand scale" (refusing to say epic because it's overused lately). I liked Dante's Freezer in general because you could actually see how far you'd gone. I don't think the games themselves always held up to the music they had.

DotD was my favorite out of the LoS. That much I can say.

to be honest, I like them both, but i'm feeling more towards DoTd, it packs alot more feeling into their music

The music is part of why I enjoy the TLOS series so much. I had a feeling I was going to have a blast when I heard ANB's start screen music.

Nice touch having that music come back for flying around the valley of Avalar, I had a bit of a nostalgic moment when I heard it then.

Anyway, while I do enjoy orchestrated soundtracks, the LoS music was hit or miss with its soundtracks.

ANB: Wonderful level music that really set the stage for the dark tones. The "action" tracks were fast-paced, with heavy instrument and choir use to set the stage for fighting hordes of enemies. Boss battle tracks were extreme misses here. Failed to set the mood for the fight, and rather forgetful altogether.

TEN: The level tracks were not very good, and rather repetitive/annoying. The action tracks were rather bizarre, and lacked the upbeat, heavy instrumentation that really fit the mood of a fight against hordes of enemies. The boss battle tracks however, were very good, especially Gaul and Skabb. Actually, the various tracks of the Pirate Fleet and Fellmuth Arena were the highlight of the game for me.

DotD: Majority of the game reused, lower quality music tracks. The new tracks for the game did not fit at all with the levels they were used in, especially the action tracks. They were worse than TEN's action tracks IMO; they were entirely out of place.

Yes both series are good for what they are....the music in the originals is fun and upbeat while the new ones are more "epic" as they put it. Overall I have to say that I enjoyed the originals more....but I certainly don't mind the new ones.

The main cause for my obsession with Spyro is mainly because of the main menu music on A New Beginning. Ahhh, now that was nice...

Well yeah it doesn't have that pick up and go style that is in the originals lol...those you just feel like getting up and dancing to for the heck of it...that's what made them so enjoyable...while LoS was meant to be more serious and toned down in a sense.
