Or the story of them being born every ten generations was passed down while the other purple dragons were forgotten.

Malefor wasn't th first of his kind, probaly the a few of the ancestors were purple and also the Chronicler could (But unlikely) has been mistaken,I mean in TEN the Chronicler scene the Chron wouldn't say that Spyro's destiny was to continue what the past of his kind tried to do which is obliterate the earth.

plus remember in DOTD when Spyro and Cynder confront Malefor and he says,
"i'm sure you've been told i'm the first of our kind... but i assure you there have been many.."?

SOOOO how would dragons know they were born every ten generations if there were just two?
