There is bound to be a good guy and bad guy somewhere in any story. I like Star Wars but it doesn't inspire me that much. If I wrote a story, I would bend the rules to some degree but still make it clear for the audience to understand. I rather not start a rant here...you may not like what I had to say.

I read Eragon and I found it a very good read. Well, I didn't really have a choice since I have this "Mustang Read" thing at my school. I'm not saying I didn't like it. Since I'm quite visionary I can follow the story easily. I was seeing how the story flows and such since I am busy writing one myself anyway. So far, I haven't gotten time to work on it.

Maybe the spirits will make more sense or play more of a role in the final book, and Brisingr was just introducing them. Another scene like that (where it doesn't seem to have much relevance to the overall plot) was when Eragon was travelling from Helgrind to the Varden and came across that old mental hermit living in the hills by himself. But even though it may not have much of a part in the general story, it still makes for an interesting read.

DragonFireOKN wrote:

One thing I don't like is that it was SO predictable.....and the plot is too close to star wars.

Yep too true, you can kinda predict who gets who, and who dies based on the Star Wars plot. But it's got dragons in it so I'm prepared to ignore the similarities. ;-)

The series is going to be a Cycle, four books. The next one is the last one.
