Yeah I have to agree with that...the Hunter that we saw in that last shot during TEN looked much more like a cheetah....and they prolly just toyed around with the designs a little too much..to make it seem EL design...but whatever..

I rather liked Hunter's new design, though it was depressing to see that all of the other Cheetah Tribe members looked just like him, only with different fur colors. Honestly, I'm starting to develop a complex about DotD's art style on the whole. It's pretty, but it probably shouldn't have been used as the closing style for a trilogy that already had an established art style. Krome's Hunter design was much more cheetah-esque.

i love his new design. i think its cool looking. the voice actor really suites him. paws are to big though in my opinion..

he looks more like a cheetah AND a lynx he is like 2 of them together. XD

I thought Cynder and Hunter were the best looking out of all the characters...if I had to rank them....prolly be like this: (from best to worst)

1. Hunter
2. Cynder
3. Cyril
4. Terrador
5. Spyro
6. Chronicler
7. Ignitus
8. Sparx
9. Volteer
10. Malefor

And honorable mention to the moles and the enemies....I thought they were pretty good. Oh and the apes of course...despite the fact they were just skeletons.

Yeah, my friend is an expert on cats and when she saw Hunter she said "was he always a lynx? I could have sworn he was a cheetah." The design does bug me just because it seemed to me that it was so simple to make pretty much the same-styled Hunter they wanted and still have him look like a cheetah, but it's like they just didn't WANT to remove the side-tufts and round his ears a bit for the sake of at least A LITTLE BIT of nostalgia.

To tell you the truth, at the very least his design (not the costume, though the costume's still alright) is one of the only ones I can actually say looks decent. Cynder's probably the other, but her color and face proportions still tug at me. She's still bearable to look at from the front though.

If Hunter ONLY had more rounded ears and tear lines, he'd look like acheetah, but alas, he doesn't. What seriously bugs me, though, is that all of the felines from his village are referred to as cheetahs, even though some of them have tiger patterns (like Prowlus and Meadow) and cougar patters (aka the blue ones). It makes me.. irk inside.

Well what are ya gonna do...personally his design in both series has really reminded me nothing like a cheetah......the only thing that has is the fact that he can move pretty fast.

But what are ya gonna do.....maybe someday someone will make a game that remains pretty true to the overall spirit......but I liked his personality...I have always seen Hunter as more mysterious and having a commanding presence.....but that's just me.

honestly, they shouldn't have called this character hunter. he's different in looks and personality (vastly different). it happens when older things are "revived" for a new audience. lots of people don't like the new spyro games at all, let alone specific characters.
i agree though.. the first thing i thought was "that really looks more like a lynx...". that's what happens when people who don't know their subject (or don't care about details) create. plenty of examples (sadly none of which are coming to mind) where someone draws or animates X but it looks more like Y, or people post a picture of (for example) a "leopard" when it's clearly a jaguar. people who like and know cats will always be disappointed when someone who doesn't know them creates/shows without doing research.

Ooh, I didn't even realize the resemblance between Hunter and a lynx until I saw that picture. But people are still going to know he's a cheetah.
I personally like this look much better than the others. Though I still prefer his original attitude.

Hunter's definitely got the speed of a Cheetah... (thinks back to him in the catacombs and the forest)

Yes I notice the point that you are trying to make...but in the end it really doesn't matter...his basic color patern follows that of a cheetah...and his body in general resembles that of a cheetah....in the end he is always gonna be a cheetah no matter what we say.

I do agree with you on the lynx features..especially in the face area..but who knows..maybe EL was trying to find a way to make him more distinguised...or make them stand out more.

In the end it really doesn't matter.

Or the little side beard that lynx has and cheetar doesn't?
