[shadow=red:9243b9ec44]In Science class we're learning about polution and things we can do to help, and learning about the new environment-safe products, such as Hybrid cars and Hydrogen cars.
The teacher said that in 2012 regular lightbulbs are gonna be banned. We'll still be able to use them, but no more buying them; only Flurestent (forgot how to spell) lightbulbs. They can last for 9 years straight if you use them wisely; not being constantly on and such.[/shadow:9243b9ec44]

It's nice that everyone's talking about new technology to reduce pollution in various ways, but few of you address the issue of convincing people to take responsible action for themselves. While most people agree that the environment should be improved, the percentage of people doing anything about it is significantly lower. I think it's a hell of a lot harder to change the psychological mindsets of society as opposed to improving technology. It's harder to get rid of bad habits than to install an emission scrubber into the fumes of a factory pipe.
That being said, there are some good examples of policies at municipal and federal levels exercising environmental strategies in many countries. Keep up the recycling guys! Bring your own bags when buying groceries! You might get a rebate when buying a hybrid car! Those kinds of things.

It's not America to blame but the way economy works is one of the main reasons for why crap happens to the environment.

For example, factory farming stems from the fact that probably one company started it, and despite that it was basically torturing animals for their meat, it produced it fast. (eventually contributing to mad cow disease because of their carelessness towards downs animals) So of course, all other meat-producing companies try to keep up and then we got factory farming all over the place. Farmers who provide the animals are then forced to go into it by the tycoons.

So yes, I know someone mentioned the businesses and competitions as one of the primary causes, which is true.
