The only inconsistency is that when the world breaks up, Hunter is seen with the Dragons so it makes it impossible for him to be living in Avalar without the other Dragons knowing of it which it is assumed when Spyro comes to Avalar that no dragons know of it...

Well, I have a therory about that.

In short, the folk in Avalar are aware of the Dragons existance but not the other way around it seems. Then again, the dragons never really talked that much anyway as they are usually treated as bystanders getting kicked around. They might know about Ripto but Spyro had never seen him before until he returned to Avalar by accident.

If they had the LOS games as a dream that original spyro wakes up from them I know that LOS fans would have the biggest rage the world has ever seen.

At the End of DotD, Spyro and Cynder Fly off and no-one hears from them for a long time  (obviously since not even the Chronicler knows where they are). It is possible that Hunter may have retired from his battles and went to live the rest of his life in TLoS Avalar. His forgetfulness of where he put his shoes, his overall senile-ness and stupidity towards most tasks in the Original Series could be accredited to his ageing since he retired.

It is also assumed in DotD (I read it somewhere...) that Spyro and Cynder only explore one valley of Avalar and that there is plenty more areas to explore that are never done. Therefore, Hunter could have come across another valley of Avalar such as aww. I don't know... Summer Forest? XD Not to mention, that Hunter knows quite alot about Avalar.

The original creators did not a have a great back-story for some of the characters compared to the TLoS Creators.... so many things can be assumed when talking about the original characters. With the probable hundreds of villages in Avalar, it is easy to see how some of the characters at the starts of levels (Colossus Monks, Breeze Harbor Breeze-Builders) came to be. I'm assuming along the lines of evolution. Over the years, Avalar could have expanded out, required the need for portals/hubs to access different areas.

I don't have a Nintendo DS, only the console Spyro games (and Season of Ice - I was stuck on the level Hummingbird Fort, the GBA has a rubbish battery life).

In Shadow Legacy, the Sorcerer is a purple dragon - like Malefor - with strong magical abilities.

He uses his magic to put Red until his control, like the Dark Master did with Cynder.

I don't think Cinder the dragonfly and Cynder the dragon are related. I mean, there are tons of dragonflies out there, and 'cinders' are the only thing I can think of that are black (or near it) and are connected to fire.
