i play soccer on the black team at my school and practice basketball although i dont ACTUALLY play it.

I like my cartoons to be cartoony.  Like Ren and Stimpy or Bugs Bunny.

The thing that bugs me the most about anime fans is that they don't realize it's meant to be a trendy thing here in the Americas.

I don't know much about Japan's method of teaching animation, but I always assumed they are taught some robotic techniques like in The Renaissance days, which makes everything in the end look pretty much the same as everything else. Even in some of the most beautiful or unique animation in Japan, you can tell it's anime because it STILL has the same elements. Look at the gorgeous stuff from Studio 4°C, (They were responsible for A Kid's Story in Animatrix) look at Shin Chan, Dead Leaves, etc. they're so different, yet somehow, they're still looking as though you've seen it before.

I've looked at "How to Draw Manga" books before and it has always bugged me how they actually try to TELL YOU how a character should be like. I'm serious, there are sections in which they draw some athlete girl with short hair and tell you something along the lines of "this is the typical tomboy character, it's important for her to like older men, etc. etc." What the hell, Japan?

I assume it became popular because it's so different than what we are used to seeing here. I guess it's also mostly popular among teenagers because a lot of anime has all these action and drama elements.

Also, there are actually some pretty good American "anime" artists. What a lot of people seeking to become an anime artist don't realize though, is that these artists took professional art classes, learned to work with and master the important mediums and to draw perfectly from observation. Only then did they go into their style of choice.

Anime is awsome but if its an art club, they have to try different stuff.

Yeah, try telling that to the members of the club I was in and they'd blow a fuse. If I even tried mentioning any other sort of animation that wasn't from Japan they'd whine and say "who cares."

In other words, they were weeaboos.

My friend and I are thinking about signing up for the badminton team in the spring, though.[/sub]
