except the reason he's given for acting like that is the "supposed" belief that it is wrong, which is bullcrap

it seems a lot like something that can be summed up by an old saying, i dont know if its exclusive to australia, or even my family, but it goes like this

you'd cut off your nose to spite your face
ie. if your face was annoying you, you'd cut off your nose to get back at it... despite the fact that its your nose and youre doing yourself harm

it seems like A Guy got *bleep*y that people disagreed with him in that argument not long ago, so he's basically said "fine if you dont agree with me, i just wont argue anymore, thatll teach you"

now thats not necessarily the scenario, but considering the same person who's opinion of debating used to be

is now that he should never disagree with anyone ever again, its a very drastic change of heart

to cease an argument, an argument has to have started, and that isnt the case, what we have here is me disagreeing with you, and you rolling over and playing dead like a little *bleep*, its sad to see to be honest, from someone who used to be a good person who stood up for what he believes in

It's just like me and some other friends with politics. We always end up agreeing so we fight over stupid things like how big the Olmec statue from Legends of the Hidden Temple is instead. And trust me, there was an actual fight like that, and people were even calling each other names and it got out of hand. They apologized to each other though, and it was cool. Honestly, I've never had a problem with A Guy either. I never have a problem with people telling it like it is. Even if I end up being a called an insult during an argument, I don't get offended. I've said this before, but I think it's just human nature to get a little heated to defend your opinion, so nobody should take stuff like that personally. Either way, if he doesn't want to start arguments anymore I'll respect his decision.

Seriously, this topic surprised me. I wasn't expecting this. You may say I'm clueless, but I'm not -- I've been browsing through a lot of threads lately without anyone knowing (hopefully).

maybe you should join a debate forum?

there is no such thing as a discussion without disagreement, or at least any discussion without disagreement would consist of:

"i like this"
"me too"
"this is what i like about this"
"me too"

the whole point of a discussion forum is for everyone who has an opinion to voice it, if there are 2 opinions which contradict you have a discussion or a debate

ive said it, A Guy has said it (im pretty sure, though apparently has since changed his mind), and others have too, i cant remember names

there is nothing wrong with arguing, just keep it civil and sensible, the only problem with A Guy's recent argument is that he was discussing forum rules, and when SR disagreed with him he continued arguing, which is silly since SR makes the rules and so has better understanding of them than anyone

apart from that its not like A Guy has really caused many problems, at the very least none that have gone unresolved
