I always assumed Spyro's father wasn't a guardian. It seems wild speculation to assume Ignitus is Spyro's father simply because of his father-like actions. I think Spyro's father isn't seen in the games, probably just a normal dragon.

That's an impossibility, a purple dragon is born once every ten generations (about two-hundred to two-hundred fifty years, as a generation is approximately every twenty to twenty-five years). Therefore, Spyro's father could be any male dragon, Ignitus (most likely choice), Volteer (that'd be funny, actually), Cyril (Hmm... rather interesting possibility), and Terrador (another likely candidate; he comforted Spyro the most when Ignitus was captured by Cynder).

And to bring up Ignitus' #1 Fan's statement, Ignitus very well could have been Spyro's father, but was unaware of it.

A part of me WANTS Ignitus to be Spyro's Father, but knows he's not...

Yes I definatly think Ignitus is his father!!!! They have a very strong bond! I mean had. Ignitus took him like Spyro was his son!

Malefor? Wasn't he trapped at the time of Spyro's laying and birth.... and isn't he a few THOUSAND years old. And do you really see Malefor, the Dark Master, in a relationship... I don't think so. Ignitus IS a likely candidate, but it's very unlikely. They are probably dead ( ) or Missing ( ). I doubt the developers will tell us. We can only wonder.... They probably made it like this so that we would wonder about it, and make us think up wacky solutions, like the one we are disscusing.

i think that ignitius took care of spyro or something after his parents disapeared or whatever but i doubt that ignitius is spyros true father.and the fact that spyro was adopted by sparxs parents confuses me even more!

I agree with all of Ignitus's #1 Fan's points- Ignitus and Spyro look eerily alike in the structures of their horns, wings, and even their faces, after all, and I don't think there are such things as 'coincidences' here in the LoS-verse.

Still, blood relations don't matter- it's the family you make for yourself that does, right? And Ignitus and Spyro bonded pretty quickly. Ignitus was the one who introduced Spyro to this grand new world he was meant to save, who taught him almost everything he knows, and kept a close eye on him for the whole series. (not to mention what he did in Dawn of the Dragon, but since the game is still pretty new I won't say more than that. Those of you who've beaten it will know what I mean.) In return, Spyro seems to go to Ignitus with any questions he has. (again- Dawn of the Dragon. Either you have seen, or you will.)

I think saying that Ignitus sees Spyro as a son wouldn't be too far off the mark. Spyro might view Ignitus as a father, though I think Cynder's #1 Fan has a valid point, too- he might feel conflicted feeling that way about Ignitus, since he and Sparx already shared parents. Hmm...Might have to write fanfic about that...

I don't really think so. I mean, it could be possible that Ignitus is Spyro's father, but I doubt. Besides, aren't Sparx's parents Spyro's adopted parents?

LOL i think i would throw my controller across the room if that happened at the end of DotD, i still havent finished it yet. Nobody ruin it lol

made a comment about this in another thread before seeing this one. i voted yes, but agree with the statement that even if ignitus isn't spyro's biological father, the bond they share is close enough. i will also say that when i imagine spyro as an adult, i tend to model the image after how ignitus looks in a new beginning.

a) It's confirmed that the new series is a reboot and has nothing to do with the old series.
b) Ignitus and Red do have a few slight similarities, but overall look completely different.
