I'm not completely accurate, but i think this is how it was:
Insomniac Created Spyro, And Published the Games with Universal, Now Spyro was universal's property
In 2000, Insomniac Stopped working with Spyro, and let Universal have him
Universal merged with Vivendi and Turned into Vivendi Universal
Sierra, a branch of Vivendi Universal, was asked to publish the next Spyro games

I shall now restate what I have said before:

Not if Insomniac never owned the rights in the first place, which they did not. Universals did. Universals became part of VUGames, of which Sierra is a part of. Now it is Activision Blizzard, or will be when the merger takes effect. But Spyro was never sold and was never owned by Insomniac.

Universals owned the copyright form game one. My source: the disk case. It say Spyro is the property of Universals. Nothing of Insomniac.

That is the histoy of what happend.

If you didn't notice, the universal logo appeared in all the originals aswell.

Spyro was never "sold" But Insomniac do need to buy Spyro from Universal if they do want to create more games, or they could just ask universal to let them create more Spyro games.
But thats not really the topic anyway....

What? I thought Sierra owned the rights to Spyro now. Not Universal.

Notice how when you play the PS1 game, the gnorc is carrying an Insomniac sign. In all the new games, Universal is the title.
