He says the EXACT SAME one-liner from LAST TIME! & then (wait for it) he says "Hocus Pocus!" & (guess what?) A CRYSTAL SHIELD appears-AGAIN! & HE DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. AGAIN. But wait! It's not over yet! He says, just after destroying his shield-"Hocus Pocus" &-He get's WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY bigger! (Why didn't he do that before?) & then he says "Hocus Pocus!" &- A FIRE SHIELD appears! Oh no, that means your flame doesn't work! DUN-DUN-DUN! Well, I won't spoil it for you but let's just say it has something to do with everything I just said happening above, only with Ice breath-Actually that about sums it up! (& guess what? He STILL doesn't do anything!) then he says "You make me so angry, Dragon!"

THEN, you have to complete the game 99.9% to (well at least there's a warning now) go to his citadel AGAIN! & you know what he does?

ONLY THIS TIME-
HE'S A MUTANT RIPTO! PART CRUSH- PART GULP- PART RIPTO!
Only this time he doesn't say "Hocus Pocus!" there's no shield this time! Just a defective sceptre! All you have to do here is attack him ONCE with lightning breath! & Ripto STILL DOESN'T DO ANYTHING!
Then-"You make me so angry, Dragon!"
BUT INSTEAD OF CREDITS...
We get a cutscene that finally explains the reason why Ripto always hated dragons & why he always failed to destroy Spyro since the day they met because his magic wasn't strong enough, conveniently explained by Spyro-(this is the EXACT wording, & the last ever line in the game)
"SILLY RIPTO, YOU'RE A DINOSAUR! DINOSAURS CAN'T USE MAGIC! THAT'S WHY YOU'VE ALWAYS HATED DRAGONS & COULDN NEVER DEFEAT ONE, THEY'RE DINOSAURS THAT CAN USE MAGIC!"
...Then Spyro winks at the camera...
...roll credits...
NEED I SAY MORE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Have you tried just pausing the boss and selecting "exit level"? Worked for me when wanting to pass the game to my brother for a brief spin.

When I beat everything on every level in that game, I just save it, and don't bother fighting the bosses, and feel that I beat the entire game. The battle itself is bad, and I can load and play any level I want by not even doing it.
