This first one will be about the reconstruction plans after the civil war:

After the Civil War, questions, such as: how to readmit the south to the Union and what will be the rights and status of the 3.5 million freedmen be; arose and needed answering. To answer this, Lincoln presented the 10% Plan which would readmit the Confederate States and allow them a new State government, in other words representation in the house of reps. as long as 10% of a states voters took an oath of loyalty to the union and recognized the end of slavery. But it didn't cover what would happen to the Freedmen. Republicans in Congress thought the plan inadequate and passed the Wade-Davis Bill instead. This required 50% instead, and would not allow participation in government all those whom cooperated with the confederacy. Lincoln pocket-vetoed the bill and between the years of 1883 and 1885 was assasinated.

I will tell you all my opinion on the situation, though, but if it contradicts what you say don't be discouraged.
