Not only has it been done already and done in such a way that makes everyone want to avoid that particular plot point, but it has been announced by all sides that that line in GBA was a mistake. If Spyro and Cynder were siblings, we'd see more sibling-like interaction between them instead of the obvious love-interest interactions they have. Also, this is a kids' series and the general character and plot is pretty straightforward in all areas. Spyro sacrificed the world for Cynder; that's movie cliche talk for "I am SO in love with you!"

Well the GBA version clearly states that they are siblings, it is part of the story. the GBA timeline IS seperate from the console timeline.
