Ripto is a bad title too.

Id like:

Spyro 2: Quest to DragonShores

Spyro 2: Big Adventures in Avalar

Or even the japanese title translated is cool:
Spyro and Sparx: Outrageous Tours!

I prefer the name Ripto's Rage, because I think it sounds better and it suits better.

Gateway to Glimmer is better. I like the name and the picture of the game better.

I actually own a copy of each. I prefer the original name Ripto's Rage but I always refer to it as Gateway to Glimmer.

I prefer Ripto's Rage because that's what the whole game is about. The title gateway to glimmer is pretty, but sounds like it would apper to be a girlier game the Spyro the dragon!

Ripto's Rage, it just makes me wonder why the Second game had two different names. The portal DID lead to Glimmer, but technically, the game took place in Avalar... right?

Gateway to Glimmer is the original name of this game... i saw that title on original platinum spyro 2 game!!!

Well maybe dark isn't the right word but the alliteration of the 'R's anf 'Rage' gives it more impact, which is why I prefer it ove Gateway to Glimmer.
