Congratulations but you don't hold a firm base for your argument.  :-P Compared to the originals there is something horribly wrong with TLOS's gameplay.

Its pretty much Because Some old Lovers are disgraced about the Reboot, how it just forgets the old Timeline like nothing happened, and Some like me think that Games like TLOS have nearly shattered the series entirely. Lookat it from my point of view, the next developer if their is one to look at the newest games-TLOS for ideas first, and there is the cycle. That means that the OLd Spyro will never return, it is just like ending the series but having some reincarnated modified version running around.
My opinion

a.) still susceptible to Gansty's freeze beam

b.) had to go fight gnorcs somehwere else in the Dragon Realms

The explanation about needing to recover makes a little more sense, though.

Also, about whether spyro was special or not, in Spyro the Dragon, at the end of Ice Path or Ice Cave on Peacekeepers, one of the dragons you release alludes to spyro being a "chosen one" of some kind. I always wanted them to expand on that. But that might be an answer to that question. Ratchet is right, though, they weren't really focused on narrative. LOS has a good story, but its hard to compare to the originals becuase they really didn't have a serious story. It was just there to keep the game moving. I kind of like the fact that there is a complex storyline now, but i miss the old characters and portals.
