1. upload it to a pic-sharing site (like tinypic.com ) and copy the link to it ("URL for forums and message boards")

2. go to this site and click the "Profile" button near the top of the page

3. paste the link into the "Link To Off-Site Avatar" box on the "Edit Profile" page

It's called an avatar, not an avi.

Go to the bottom of your profile page to find where to set it as your avi.

What are you trying to do? You can't have .avi files as your signature, if that's what you're asking.
