I only played 7 and 8, and they took me forever.

Maybe he is one of the misunderstood villans, you know, they have something bad happen to them and changes them completly

I think they managed to banish the Dark Master Malefor to the Dark realms, because they knew of his hunger for power and for control. I think it also took not only just one dragon's abilities to lock this guy away, but all 4 or 5, possibly 6. Yep that means Ignitus, Volteer, Cyril, Terrador, Spyro AND Cynder's powers will have to combine to lock this guy down once and for all.

I think it was the Ancestors that sealed Malefore away. The Ancestors are probably purple dragons, too, that's how they overpowered him. And, since the Ancestors created the Spirit Gems and helped Spyro defeat Cynder with Purple Fury, they will probably also give Spyro a powerful fury to finish the Dark Master off.

The Dark Master-Malefore was the first purple dragon. He mastered all the elements plus new ones none thought possible. They realised the Dark Master would eventually get strong enough to control everything, so they sealed him away before he got to strong. But the Dark Master was now so powerful that he could control even hell itself to some extent. Thus he created the Well of Souls. He also built an ape army, and taught them to harnass the gems' power. Then Gaul attacked the temple and got Cynder.
Meanwhile, the Dark Master had not yet reached immortality, so he sealed himself inside Convexity and waited for Cynder to gather the power of the gaurdians. But Spyro saved everything with the Purple Fury, the only power the Dark Master didn't have (since Spyro's good, he got purple, since Malefore's bad, he got convexity). Convexity started collapsing, and the Dark Master was dead... But Gaul knew on the Eternal Night, Malefore would be back, and he returned as DARKSPYRO. But then Cynder pushed Spyro out of the way, and the Dark Master was freed. Since Malefore's much more powerfull than DarkSpyro, this proves Cynder cares for Spyro.   3 years later, the Dark Master is reighning supreme, and so starts Dawn of the Dragon...
