And I don't really understand that map thing, Stormy.
The area between where it says "0" is GMT time, -0. The other numbers tell you how far ahead or behind GMT time an area is. Minnesota is GMT -6, meaning we'll always be 6 hours behind the people in the GMT timezone.
I think they get the numbers.

I think that's because of some of the islands. They want to be in the same timezone as the country they belong to, so they move the lines accordingly. [/sub]

I'm in Finland Timezone GMT +2 Finland is Northest country in +2 timezone. Its easy to find that way.

The map is just showing all the time zones around the world. Don't worry, I used to never be able to understand time zones either ... Never knew how they worked out the different zones.

Here where I live (Minnesota) it is 9:38 PM Central Time.

Since no one really answered the actual question, here's how it works. The US has four different timezones; mine happens to be GMT -6, or central time. Assuming the thread creator does live in Australia, she would be 14 hours ahead of my timezone.
