AND FINALLY, I GOT TO FIX THE .JPG PROBLEM. HAH.

The registry was really, really, REALLY hiding from me. I had to read in between the processes in getting to the .jpg and .gif filters, and I found something suspicious:

I noticed the general Import and Export registries in there (the picture only shows the import registry, but it applies for the export registry too), and it only says it only read the GIF filters, and not the .JPG filters as well! So I just editted that registry by adding in the JPEG, and now I can save in .jpg! So now the registry looks like this:

WOOHOO! Also, I may try to research a lot more and see if my MS Paint can also save .PNG...

Um, maybe you should download GIMP or photoshop insted. they are better than paint...

I DON'T HAVE THE PNG FILTER EITHER!!! *bleep* MS PAINT IS TRASH AGAIN. T_T

png is the best. its lossless compression.

Try saving things as a PNG, they will look better when they're saved as that.

Ž Â· WTF! I still can't save it as .jpg! Even though I type .jpg extension after the filename, it saves in .bmp quality! Help!

Ž Â· OK, that site helped me, but I have one last problem. Sure I can open .jpg files and save .jpg files, but I have to do it manually. Computer newbies like my cousins will have a hard time saving the file as .jpg. Although the 2 filetypes are already in the registry, why isn't the .jpg filter appearing in the filetype box? I'll look at the registry again to see if there's a difference...

EDIT: I found some differences in the Registry...

I found that the differences were similar in both the Export and Import part of the Graphics Filter in the registry, and these are what I found:

ImageAPI\BitLevel: For the JPEG, it says 0,0,0 , while for the GIF it says 1,144,8 .
Options: For the GIF, it has the 'SetMetafileBackground' string and JPEG has none, while JPEG has the DWORD Value 'Quality' while GIF doesn't.

Anyone?

If you got another computer, try copying the mspaint.exe file from it (WINDOWS\system32) and replace the one in your computer then see if that helps. I'm not it will work but try anyway if you can.
Also which OC are you using? Windows XP?

Ž Â· OK, so my computer was just reformatted, and the main drive C:\ was wiped out. After installing back everything (the OS, Applications, etc.), there was a problem that I encountered...

When I go and use Print Screen, I usually Paste it on MS Paint and I save it as a JPEG file. But right now, IT CAN'T SAVE INTO ANY OTHER FILE THAN .BMP . WHEN I TYPE IN THE SAVE AS TEXT BOX filename.jpg , IT SAVES AS A JPEG FILE BUT IN .BMP QUALITY. WHEN YOU PULL DOWN THE FILE TYPE BOX, THERE'S NO .JPG AND .GIF.

Anyone know what the heck is the problem? T_T
