Nope, PIP, he isn't Spyro, He looks entirely different, he sounds entirely different, he acts intirely different, same as sparx.
The genre has changed, the Story has been revamped, the whole idea has changed, None of the original spyro "trademarks" are there.
I really dont care if hes on the top 10 list again, hes still not spyro. VU are crapholes if thats whAT THEY REALLY DID, i can think of tonnes of ideas using the original structure.

Well Pip i sorta get your point, but just because a few stupid game companies cant get the plot right, we have to redo the series and abolish who Spyro is?

They didn't abolish who Spyro is, because there are no limmits to who he can be. Many people have not accepted that maybe Spyro is a different character now, than he was in 1998 - but this is what character design is all about peeps - developping the character. Off course he can't be be stuck in the 90's forever, you'd be naive to think that.
It was Kromes assignment to revamp Spyro in a proper way, and despite the major pressure on them, they mannaged to get Spyro back up on the top 10 list again, that not only amazing - thats brilliant!

as I said...
They were told by Spyro's owner (Vivendi Universal Games / Sierra) that they had to do a serios revamp on the series and create something new and interesting. As it is, Krome and Amaze are in no position to argue with the publishers about this.

Yep, TLOS did surrender, they said "ok, the plot has crashed, why dont we just stuff it and make a new timeline", either that or... "wow cool, a dragon, Lets just stuff the other games and make a whole new idea"
TLOS may have increased spyro's popularity, but how the hell could you call it spyro?
