In the originals there were some technologies like in Spyro 3 that submarine boss and cannons, guns and so on!
TLOS series has catapults, but they're not new technologies. I think that the originals and TLOS series aren't even related any way.
So I don't comparison their times or anything else. They're completely different worlds.

Because in TLoS, A purple dragon rids the world of evil. A million years afterwards, peace and prosperity reign because in TLoS, all the bad forces of the dragon worlds are destroyed. Perfect Logic.
