Sierra owns Krome studios. Its like a sub company.

And yes, you do need to license a character off the copyright/trademark owners if you want to make money off the content to create with the character.

no, Krome is, But the publishes, Sierra Boss around krome... You know, tell them which the day the game needs releasing all that sorta stuff

I bet since they didn't pay much for the rights that there were quite a few limitations though. If not, then we should just borrow the rights too

I see what you mean by the make up the story thing, but it doesn't explai the whole runing out of ideas thing, owell.

I can actually understand why the developers might be the ones running out of ideas. I once tried out the software RPG Maker 2000 and to have to make up the story from scratch all by yourself kind of spoils the fun even if other people might find your game interesting. I guess some developers get tired of seing what might happen and that it's more fun to be a constant surprise when playing the game for the first time.

On the GameSpot forums, I often find myself thinking "What if all the regular posters on this forum became a VG development team?" For one thing, the Spyro games would certainly go back to their dreamy roots! It's awesome to know that so many people prefer the original 3 Spyro games and are not getting sucked into modern-day gameplay which isn't always up to scratch. Staying true to the original is a concept which isn't advice, it's a demand!
