Yeah, that was it. I just remembered ReptileOfInterpretation telling me about the controversy and all I really registered about the game itself was that it was something I didn't care about.

Star Wars Battlefront II. it's literally the reason lootboxes are legally considered "gambling" in some countries now (as they should be) and are being investigated in other countries (as they should be).

and i 100% agree that microtransactions/DLC/etc in games that aren't free-to-play are insane. the entire purpose of them is to be a way to earn some money while giving people a free product.

I really think they're starting to learn that it's not worth it to do things like that. I don't follow gaming news that much, but I know there was a recent game that was basically unplayable without microtransactions, and people were so upset about it that the industry has been taking a huge step back from that approach.

If there's any paid DLC it'll probably just be the new orb challenges that were mentioned, or some cosmetic stuff. They won't risk the backlash of taking away something that was already promised.

I have no problem with microtransactions in games at all if they're otherwise free games. Putting them in a game you already had to pay full price for is just ridiculous.

legitimately will not be surprised if part of the game is taken out and then sold back as DLC or something. these companies are insane.

they intentionally made spiro ugly in skylanders so that the fans would want calssic spyro even more so that 7 years latter activision would give them og spyro and make loads of moneyies!1!
