Now that Crash has gotten three. All chances of a new stand alone Spyro game, remaster or not, have pretty much gone from null to almost certain.

We could see a Spyro trilogy remaster similar to what is being done with Crash. If the Crash remaster sells well, maybe Sony and Activision can work out a deal to do the Spyro trilogy as well.

Good point, it gets much more complicated when money is involved and one could get in trouble easily when using copyrighted stuff.

i'm not actually sure, would it be legal to use Kickstarter for that since it uses a copyrighted character?

Sadly, no. I am planning on using Kickstarter to make my own Spyro-style game and release it, though.

as long as fans aren't making a profit on the remakes, licensing shouldn't matter.

If there's ever an HD remake it will have to be done by fans. And honestly, Spyro is a pretty niche title since everyone owned an N64 over a PS1 back in the day, so I doubt there would be enough support or cash behind a project like this if it came to fruition. Not to mention licensing of the Spyro name will be pretty much impossible now due to Skylanders
