In the university I am at, you have 3 tries to do the exam and if you fail them all, its then up to the teacher if (s)he allows you to take next one or repeat the course next year, but all the tries are for free, that's why I was surprised when one of my friends told me they have to pay for next try if they fail 2 times.

I see students have to pay for books all over the world. Here people usually make groups on facebook where they exchange information or sell used books.

Aint no one giving those away.

Yea you still gotta pay up the butt for those. College is just like that. I had a computer hardware class that used LabSim, basically all of our work was in some online classroom with our assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. So I payed for the tuition, the class, then the online service on top. The teacher even told us the book wasn't required unless you wanted extra stuff to study. Those online things can be from $80 up to $120+.

Depends on the country i think. I've even heard that some places that you pay for high school years and stuff. Which here it is more or less not til university or college before you have to pay independently for it in terms on how many years of study and the cost of school books.

So for example, you have 2 for free and for the next ones you have to pay.

I think its if you fail the exam then you can take it again for free.

In the US, the only exam I can think of that's like that is the GRE test which is about $200 to take, and allows you to get into some graduate school programs. (Further education after your Bachelor's degree). ACT and SAT tests to get into college are only about $20. That's obviously a drop in the bucket compared to tuition costs of attending a University though. They usually make you pay for your textbooks too, which can cost a few hundred dollars per semester if you can't find used ones. I was briefly considering going for my Master's degree until I realized it was going to cost over $500/credit and I would need about 40 credits. That on top of my existing student loans would have just been irresponsible.

Now I guess I just have to work more internships until companies believe that I have enough experience to hire

(I'm not bitter at all, I swear )

Well yeah, colleges and private schools have tuition. The schools don't charge for individual exams, though; that would be ridiculous. I've never heard of that in any country. Maybe you're thinking of the standardized tests like the ACT and SAT, where your score determines your eligibility for admission? Those cost money, but you only have to take one of them, and you only have to do it once.

I was just wondering.. I've heard that in some schools you not only pay incredible school fees, but also pay for taking extra exams. So for example, you have 2 for free and for the next ones you have to pay. Does anybody heard of it too? Is that normal on universities around the world?
