wow, i've only seen a couple minutes of this video, but it really does remind you of Spyro, right down to the scenery.

Sounds to me like the "Crush Bandicoot" pitch might have been the inspiration for Crunch Bandicoot, albeit the extra beef in him.

Why did the Muppets go into a scary hunted house for vacation? For the sake of the story.

Fun fact: Magenta Software actually pitched a Crash Bandicoot game called 'Crush Bandicoot' that was ultimately rejected.

They also made this game based off of the Cat in the Hat movie from 2003... which was composed by Game Audio ltd., the same 'Composer' of Spyro: A Hero's Tail. It was also co-developed by Digital Eclipse and published by VU games.

I'd recommend "Muppet Monster Adventure" PS1. Has a nice atmosphere of exploration. Its a nice PS1 game ^^
