Which games do you like to play that are not by that third party company? Why?

That third party company, when it comes down to it, created Spyro.
Universal Interactive Entertainment approached Insomniac asking them to create a family friendly game for the Playstation, and Insomniac obliged. Later, Universal Interactive Entertainment became Vivendi Universal Entertainment, keeping the Spyro rights. They later became Vivendi Games, and a bit after that, guess who they became. That's right, this third party company you oh so dearly hate.
Therefore, no Activision = no Spyro.

That said I really like the Tales of Series, Pokemon, Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, and most Naughty Dog and Insomniac games.
