You know how much the PS2 version took up? About 3.63 GB. I also happen to have installation discs for Need for Speed: The Run, one of which takes 16 GB. The game was not made to be the "next gen" title for graphics. They were more focused on gameplay and story, thats how spyro has always been and it should not change from that.
3.) The costs to manufacture and distribute would have been a lot more costly than releasing the PS2/PS3/Wii versions as Microsoft charge quite a lot more in terms of revenue costs to release the game for Xbox. And even for major companies like Activision, those small cost differences add up. They made the money they wanted because people brought the game. (Even if the game itself was not that great, once you buy it, they do not care less in most cases, like it or not, that is how the gaming industry works for the big competitors).

The legend of spyro was not really supposed to be the main game from Activision, it was just to satisfy the fanbase for spyro while they focused on other titles. In this case, Call of Duty.
