It might be cool to have a contest to see who can finish the game with the most lives, but it would be highly exploitable because of the little crystal gems. What do you mean by the nonstop supercharge trick?

I also noticed they seem to serve in place of the skill-points in the sequels. This got me wondering, how many extra lives are in this game in total. And has anyone ever gotten all of them? Do you guys think this may serve as a good contest idea, maybe along with the nonstop supercharge trick?
