Well, most of us would probably not even exist at all, so there's that.

I was wondering if they might have "modernized" in a completely different way if they had been left alone. Maybe we would have seen more environmentally friendly technology sooner because of their reverence for nature. Or maybe they would have moved away from that after a time. Who knows.

Well, that is an interesting thought, but they probably would have just been colonized by another nation. That's just the way the world worked back then. Maybe that other nation might have been more open to peaceful relations with the natives, but who knows.

Our history is definitely not a pretty one. Conquering, exploiting the people and natural resources, etc, etc. It's sad how freedom for one group of people had to be built on slavery and the exploitation of others. But that's just life in general I suppose.

i'm often left to think about what Europeans back then did to this country. it's repulsive.

well, all the nature that was cut down to make cities would still be here. all the pollution caused by factories in the US wouldn't have been here. it'd be cool to still come here, but rather to experience it, to share in it with the (friendly) "tribes" living here, not take over it..

Imagine how cool it would've been to be a tribe member and grow up with them. What do you think the evolutionary progress: from then til now would've been if Indians(Native Americans) was still around. It does seem nice to think about it, America would be a different place today i think if it had been its own independent country for the tribes.
