I've always considered the three operating systems almost as three tiers; you use a Mac if you don't know much about computers and just want something (overpriced) that can browse the internet (that's pretty much all it's useful for OH ZING HAHEHEERHE,) you use Windows if you pretty much know your way around a computer, and want to be able to use a variety of applications, and you use Linux if you don't need any of that and instead just want to make cool stuff. I've never really used Linux, though, so I might not know Myself, I use Windows. You can probably tell how I feel about Apple just by reading what I say whenever the topic comes up.

I would describe Linux more as the os that can do absolutely anything, but only if you're good with computers and are capable of installing every necessary prerequisite manually using the shell, before manually setting everything up, again with the shell.

I've used Ubuntu in the past but I mostly prefer Windows. I currently use Windows 8.1. Sure it's annoying, but it's been getting more tolerable with each update Microsoft gives it.

I find most Apple products to be incredibly overpriced, so I never bothered to try to own one personally. Never even had an iPod.

I have to disagree with your statement about Macs. I've installed a bunch of applications on my computer (such as Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Minecraft) and they all work fine. Macs have many more uses than just Windows. They do exactly the same things as Windows. I just prefer the layout of everything and the design.

My grandparents use their Windows computer only for playing solitaire, so not all Windows users actually know much about computers. I had to teach them what USB ports are.

because i've had it for awhile and i don't need to get anything else. people complain about Vista, i'm fine with it.
