That's a very good question, and the answer is... I don't know. When I said you had 4,294,967,291 PMs, I was referring to a "number of PMs" value in your account that's just a static value - it's not counting anything. In theory the mod should increment and decrement this value as messages (whatever it counts messages as) are received and deleted, but clearly this isn't what's happening in practice.

You know, I should probably just rewrite this entire mod sometime. In my exploring yesterday I found at least two other strange bugs.

random thought: when you, Stormy say "PMs", what do you mean?

the new PMs are more like threads, where there's an original message, and then replies, as opposed to a separate page for each message.

when you talk about PMs, are you referring to each of those "threads", or each individual message in them? i don't know, could there be something with that system?

I think I've narrowed it down to being some kind of bug with the multi-delete function. My guess is you reached your limit of 20 and deleted them, and then the system for some reason thought it should update your "number of PMs" value to 4,294,967,291 instead of zero. Everything else looked good as far as I could tell, so I've reset it manually back to zero. Will definitely keep looking into causes for that, though. Very weird.

I also did a quick query which determined that you are the only user with an outrageous number like that. O_o The user with the next highest number of PMs didn't have 20 yet, either, so it's almost certainly either a bug that happens when the limit is reached or when PMs are deleted.

Basically, trying to understand other people's code is the worst.

wow. i don't think i've sent/received even 50 since we moved servers, much less 4,294,967,291. i must have had like 30 max (including sent ones) when i deleted them.

Found the problem. According to the database, you have 4294967291 PMs. ._.

Now the trick will be figuring out why.

Don't worry about it; if there are errors like this happening I have to fix them. Better to find out about them sooner rather than later.

If I remember right, the PM mod wasn't written for the newest version of Fluxbb, so that might be part of the problem.

I was thinking it might be that the messages aren't "completely" being deleted out of the database, but the fact that it still doesn't work after I raised the limit suggests otherwise.

If anyone else is having this problem, please let me know; I need all the information I can get to fix this one.

it still says it's full, even though you upped the limit.
edit: i also tried sending a PM and it didn't work, just throwing that out there

i feel bad pointing out all of these glitches to you in posts and PMs but at the same time i feel like they should be addressed and you probably want to know about them before they get out of hand ^^;

it's not a huge deal (for me personally), i don't know if anyone else is getting this but you don't have to rush for me, i don't get a *ton* of PMs on here and anyone who was going to probably would have read this thread anyway. i always have my dA inbox if anyone -has- to PM me.

i just deleted all of the PMs i had on here, thereby *emptying* my inbox, but it said, "Your private message boxes are full!"

i figured it was just a glitch on the page, but nope, not only is the message still there, but i actually can't send (or presumably receive) PMs now.

i thought maybe my deleted box was full, but this site doesn't seem to *have* deleted boxes, so i don't know.

i tried signing out and back in. i don't know what to do. this isn't very urgent, but it should still probably be addressed.
