Not saying anything might seem like the safe option, but there is always the possibility of the other person getting into another relationship. I guess if you think you could just be friends indefinitely, it wouldn't hurt to just wait and let things develop naturally. If you don't think you can, might as well say something - best case scenario it works, worst case it doesn't and makes the friendship awkward, but that was going to happen anyway.
