It's very possible to switch tunes (I don't really know the term either) quickly on a keyboard.

What I suppose you're referring to sounds like a quick strum of a set of strings; it may be a steel stringed guitar with rather loose / flappy strings, it could also be something like a santoor or some other zither-type instrument.

sounds to me like a combination of a chime sound that could have come from anything, and some kind of brass instrument, maybe layered a few times or a few different instruments playing, apparently pretty low in the mix, but i just have a feeling. i could be wrong on that, though.

(i always thought brass instruments were a little heavier on the low, deeper end than what's here, but they could just be playing higher notes/octaves. i really don't know.)

i think it's two different things because the chime sound is more audible at different points, and the last few notes of the melody (end of 00:11, 00:15) make it sound like there's something else playing and changing notes even when the chiming isn't playing.

If I remember, they guy was using some kind of custom sound program so put all of the sounds together. So either he made the sound or it came with the program. I am pretty sure it is not available as a separate sound file, but you can go through those sound file websites and see if there's one that comes close to what you want.

I would post this in the individual board, but I'm feeling sassy today. Does anyone have/know the name of the sound effect used in the main tune of the Spyro 1 theme? I wanted to make my own music using it, but taking out the background noise in audacity makes it sound terrible, and I don't want the background music in there. Here's a link, in case you need a reminder:

Evidently you can't have timestamps with this bbcode. It's at 0:10.
