Take a link like this, for example:

http://www.spyroforum.com/post-308121.html

See the last part before the .html? That's the post id. As long as you know that, you can link directly to any post on the site like this:

http://www.spyroforum.com/viewtopic.php?pid=308121

Or even this:

http://www.spyroforum.com/viewtopic.php?pid=308121#p308121

As for topics, they were a little different if I'm remembering right, so you might not be able to find those without searching.
