One of my laptops has two graphics cards that are "switchable" by using that Catalyst program s'pyromane mentioned. I didn't think they could run at the same time, but I guess that makes sense that they could as long as they're on different tasks.

If by running both you mean using your built-in GPU for work/to display the desktop and your ATI for games, yeah you can , you just need to configure your graphic card with the help of its program (I believe it's Catalyst for ATI) to tell your computer when to use it or not (he uses the GPU by default).

You can't use them both on the same task , because well, they aren't meant to work together (it's not like your GPU is gonna improve your ATI's power anyway, even if GPUs are now much better than they used to be) , but you can run them both at the same time.

Hope it helps.

I know this forum has a few people who know more about this stuff than I do.

I just got an ATI Radeon 5770 for free from a friend. So after installing it, I'm
curious: is there a way I can run BOTH my built-in GPU and the graphics card?

I'm only using one monitor, I just want the power of both to work together.
