I'm interested in the controller. When they're available, I want to grab one and see how they work. The idea of the SteamOS is interesting, but a friend and I had a conversation on how games that run on it will likely use wine to convert the windows libs so that non-linux games would work on SteamOS. This could also mean all games on Steam will have Linux compatibility. However, the problem with converting the windows libs with wine is that windows libs are just that, windows libs. They were meant for windows. This is why when you use wine to get an .exe file working on your mac or linux machine, particularly 3D games, they're very slow and glitchy. Yes, in this situation, they do have the advantage of being able to port the libs themselves instead of directly using wine, but this will still result in a lot of higher-end games running badly, since instead of them being ported to work with linux, only the libs used were ported. This means that to run SteamOS, you'll either need a very high end PC or a Steam machine (assuming they're more optimized for this.) However, we still don't know if this is the way Steam will really make SteamOS work, we were just giving it our best guess.

I believe it's a cool idea, especially the part about
the OS being a Linux-based OS, but I wouldn't fork out the money for it all.
I'm just too poor to go about buying systems and such.
